Alright so I have a problem

8 08 2008

Anyone who knows me personally knows that I rarely listen to anything outside of hip-hop. It’s not that I dislike everything not hip-hop its just that I honestly don’t know where to start when trying out new things. Also if I do leave my little rap music comfort zone I don’t stray far enough to justify listening to a new type of music. For example I love the house/electro music band Justice. I have there CD and I have downloaded over 20 remixes they’ve made but after them I don’t think I listen to any other house band. Except for Daft Punk (don’t know how I forgot them).

So recently I’ve gone to my best friend Kevin (who I acquired my taste of hip-hop from) about good bands. He suggested a crap load of bands that I should listen to (although its gonna take a while for me to get around to downloading most of em). So since I’ve haven’t told you the whole point of this blog post is this. I found a band that I want to listen to.

The OneUps Volume 1

The OneUps Volume 1

There a band from Fayetteville, Arkansas by the name of “The OneUps”. They are a jazz/funk band that covers old video game songs. I mean to me that is perfect. I listen to funk and jazz sometimes to sample music from. I also love video game music (which I also love to sample). I mean I recognize all the songs that they covered on their myspace.

The one major problem is I can’t find there album anywhere on the internets. I mean I looked for hours. I’ve checked torrents, album download sites (albumhunt, albumwash, etc.) even *shudders* Limewire. I would just buy it but I’ve had bad expierences online buying albums that I really want (“The Art of One Mind” by Symbolyc One and illmind) and I’ve had good expierences (“Connected” by Foreign Exchange).  Both of those albums were so hard to find that I bought them and I was throughly disapointed with one and I loved the second so I’m not sure if I want to buy the album just to be disapointed and not like it. But maybe I should just go with my gut and buy it. Or if anyone out there has a link that would be appreciated (if I like it then I will most definetly buy Volume 2, which should be out September 2nd).
