I’m truly strange

22 08 2008

For some odd reason I have been having the urge to play the strangest games (it’s not the games that are strange just the urge to play them). One day during the summer I awoke and I really, really wanted to play Sonic. I spent a hour and a half looking for a Genesis emulater (for my hacked PSP of course) so I can play Sonic. Then about 2 days ago I really wanted to play Mega Man so I downloaded a PSX rom (again for my PSP) and I downloaded the Mega Man collection. For those of you out there that don’t know there is a mega man collection on the PSX. Now I really want to play Okami and Ico. I got half way through Okami but then I lost it and with Ico I played it once but I only played it for 20 minutes.

Normally I have no problems satisfying my cravings to play these games but I know once I start playing the games then I know I won’t finish. I do this all the time. There are rare cases when I don’t do it however, for example in 2006 I wanted to replay Ocarina of Time and I got some collectors edition of it somewhere. I finished all of Ocarina of Time. In another occasion I am currently right now playing Chrono Trigger on my PSP (yeah I know PSP’s are frickin awesome). However you can make an exception for both of these games because they are my two favorite games of all time (it’s a tie for #1 I can never choose). So I will most likely play Okami over and not finish it and as for Ico, if I find it I will beat it.

So on another subject (I feel like writing today :) ) did anyone catch the news about the new PSP. At the Leipzig Game Convention Sony unveiled the PSP-3000. It’s called the 3000 because the first model of the PSP was called the PSP-1000 series and the slim PSP (which I own) is called the PSP-2000 series. It’s derived from the model number. Well if your wondering about features, the new PSP has an anti glare screen and a microphone. Thats it. No new analog stick or touchscreen or anything important. They might as well should have named this PSP the “PSP temporarily unhackable version”. $10 says Dark Alex hacks it before November.

At the 3:27 mark, I lost control of all my bodily fluids.

Alright so I have a problem

8 08 2008

Anyone who knows me personally knows that I rarely listen to anything outside of hip-hop. It’s not that I dislike everything not hip-hop its just that I honestly don’t know where to start when trying out new things. Also if I do leave my little rap music comfort zone I don’t stray far enough to justify listening to a new type of music. For example I love the house/electro music band Justice. I have there CD and I have downloaded over 20 remixes they’ve made but after them I don’t think I listen to any other house band. Except for Daft Punk (don’t know how I forgot them).

So recently I’ve gone to my best friend Kevin (who I acquired my taste of hip-hop from) about good bands. He suggested a crap load of bands that I should listen to (although its gonna take a while for me to get around to downloading most of em). So since I’ve haven’t told you the whole point of this blog post is this. I found a band that I want to listen to.

The OneUps Volume 1

The OneUps Volume 1

There a band from Fayetteville, Arkansas by the name of “The OneUps”. They are a jazz/funk band that covers old video game songs. I mean to me that is perfect. I listen to funk and jazz sometimes to sample music from. I also love video game music (which I also love to sample). I mean I recognize all the songs that they covered on their myspace.

The one major problem is I can’t find there album anywhere on the internets. I mean I looked for hours. I’ve checked torrents, album download sites (albumhunt, albumwash, etc.) even *shudders* Limewire. I would just buy it but I’ve had bad expierences online buying albums that I really want (“The Art of One Mind” by Symbolyc One and illmind) and I’ve had good expierences (“Connected” by Foreign Exchange).  Both of those albums were so hard to find that I bought them and I was throughly disapointed with one and I loved the second so I’m not sure if I want to buy the album just to be disapointed and not like it. But maybe I should just go with my gut and buy it. Or if anyone out there has a link that would be appreciated (if I like it then I will most definetly buy Volume 2, which should be out September 2nd).

Grand reason for lack of post…
